College Football Championship Saturday: Full Schedule

December 2, 2023 by Rocky Top Talk

NCAA Football: SEC Football Championship-Louisiana State vs Georgia
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Time to settle things.

The remainder of the College Football conference championships will be settled today, following a big opening Friday night. The Washington Huskies essentially punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff last night, taking care of Oregon for a second time this season.

Polishing off an undefeated season in a surprisingly strong Pac-12, the Huskies are in. And now for the rest of the picture — what a Saturday we have ahead.

Texas and Oklahoma State will kick things off today in Dallas, playing for the Big 12 title. The Longhorns need some help today, and they could certainly get it considering Florida State’s ever-changing quarterback situation. More on that in a minute.

Georgia and Alabama will square off once again in Atlanta, playing for the SEC title. The winner here will more than likely get into the CFP field, but an Alabama upset would make things pretty interesting considering their previous loss to Texas. And then, what would you do with Georgia? If you want chaos, you need to pull for ‘Bama here.

Michigan should punch their ticket with ease tonight, facing an offensively challenged Iowa team.

And then there’s the biggest wildcard of the day — Florida State and Louisville. Who will start at quarterback for the Seminoles? That will be determined in pregame warmups, reportedly. Tate Rodemaker took a shot last week and his status is uncertain, which means third-stringer Brock Glenn could get the call.

If Florida State still wins, the committee can’t keep them out, right? That seems to be the case, but taking the ‘Noles with an uncertain quarterback situation over a proven Texas team would certainly hurt the competitiveness of the CFP field, according to the look-ahead lines.

This can either be a no-brainer decision for the committee or it can be very, very messy. Let’s see how it unfolds.
