Can the Vols rally?
The NCAA Tournament gets going today across the country, and Tennessee is set to defend its national title coming out of the Knoxville Regional as the No. 14 seed. The Volunteers limped it home in the regular season, dropping six of their last seven series to close. Tennessee did find a couple of big wins over Alabama and Texas in Hoover, however.
They’re set to host Wake Forest, Cincinnati and Miami (OH) this weekend looking to make yet another Super Regional round. Tennessee got a tough draw on Monday, matching up (potentially) with Arkansas in the next round.
According to Fanduel Sportsbook, the Razorbacks are favored to win the whole thing. LSU and Vanderbilt follow, then it’s North Carolina, Texas and Tennessee — despite the weak close to the season.
The SEC, fresh off of landing a record 13 bids in the NCAA Tournament, holds eight of the top 13 odds to win the national title.
The College World Series field will be set over the next two weekends. The final eight teams will hit Omaha on June 13th, with a champion set to be crowned on June 22nd or June 23rd.
