Diego Pavia says Vanderbilt will ‘run Tennessee after this year’

Doubtful.

In news that absolutely will not shock you at all, Diego Pavia is running his mouth. The Vanderbilt quarterback that gained fame with his gutsy play and shocking upset of Alabama last season thinks Vanderbilt, yes the Vanderbilt Commodores, can run the state of Tennessee in football.

Pavia made this claim during a segment of Bussin with the Boys.

“Vanderbilt is gonna run Tennessee after this year,” said Pavia. “This is gonna be the new staple of college football. It’s going to happen here at Vanderbilt.”

Pavia points to NIL and Nashville as the reasons why.

“Everyone wants to come to [the state of] Tennessee because of Nashville. They want to come to Nashville, so Vanderbilt [is in Nashville. And then when we have the most money in NIL, like, why not come here? So, we literally just have to win this year, and throughout the rest of the year, it’ll take care of itself.” (Bussin with the Boys)

Tennessee beat Vanderbilt 36-23 last season, dominating the final three quarters of play after a hot start from Vandy. Pavia? Well he wasn’t great in that one. Tennessee delivered shot after shot on the signal caller as he continued to make something happen. Pavia was just 8-17 passing for 104 yards and an interception. He added 11 carries for 45 yards. Tennessee’s physicality seemed to wear him down throughout the afternoon.

That game was in Nashville, this year’s will be in Knoxville.

Here’s the thing. Pavia doesn’t actually believe this. It’s June, we’re short on college football headlines, and he knows that he’s doing. When’s the last time you even thought about Vandy football in the summer months?

He’s in his final year of college football and loves the spotlight. Pavia also claimed that Vandy was going to beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa and make the College Football Playoff. Sure!

The ‘Dores took a step forward to 7-6 last season thanks in large part to Pavia’s play. But going from a mediocre SEC team to doing all of that would be quite the jump.

I hate even giving this any attention, but, you know — it’s easy content!
