His fourth school in six months.
Tennessee.
Ole Miss.
Louisville.
And now — Miami.
That’s been the offseason sequence for former Tennessee defensive lineman Tyler Baron, who initially entered the transfer portal back in early December. He would eventually commit to Ole Miss, before flipping to Louisville. After going through spring practice with the Cardinals, Baron hit the portal one more time.
On Tuesday night, he announced his commitment to his fourth school in the last six months.

Baron’s stepbrother Wesley Walker joined him at Louisville. He too has since hit the portal again, landing at Michigan. Former Tennessee defensive back Tamarion McDonald also flipped from Ole Miss to Louisville, where he remains today.
Baron had flirted with the transfer portal before, reportedly choosing to enter after the 2021 season. He quickly reversed course, but opted to officially make the move two years later. Baron is a Knoxville native and a former four-star prospect.
He appeared in several games as a true freshman before becoming a starter for Tennessee in the last three seasons. The 6-5, 260 pound had his best season in 2023, totalling 10.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.
Baron’s exit from Tennessee shouldn’t have too big of an affect on the Vols’ defensive front. Rodney Garner has put together a deep group up front, and guys like Dominic Bailey, Tyre West and Daevin Hobbs should be ready to step up. Tennessee is still anchored by senior nose tackle Omari Thomas and star edge rusher James Pearce. With depth and experience, this group should be one of the best in the SEC.
