A big pickup.

Tennessee made another big splash on the recruiting trail on Saturday, landing four-star receiver Travis Smith Jr. out of Georgia. Smith was once thought of as a Georgia lean, but a final Tennessee official visit seemed to seal the deal for the Volunteers.

Smith checks in at 6-4, 200 pounds. The Atlanta product ranks 113th nationally in the class of 2025, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s the 16th ranked receiver in the class and the 14th ranked player out of the state of Georgia.

On3 is much higher on Smith, ranking him as the 59th overall player in the class.

The Peach State receiver chose Tennessee over Auburn, Alabama and Georgia. Smith was able to take official visits to each of his finalists throughout June, as many prospects did. It was one of several visits to Knoxville over the last year as Smith earned his Tennessee offer last September. Tennessee got him on campus shortly after, allowing him to take in the Texas A&M and Georgia contests.

Smith brings a big body to the table, which is something Tennessee didn’t really have in the class just yet. He’s regarded as a guy that might not have that elite speed, but he’s great in contested catch situations where he can simply go above defenders.

Smith is the 17th commitment for Tennessee in the 2025 cycle. The addition moves the Volunteers up to No. 11 in the overall class rankings, per 247Sports.
