The top basketball team in the land is back in action tonight at Food City Center. Tennessee sits at 11-0 through the bulk of their non-conference slate with just MTSU and Norfolk State left.
MTSU sits at 9-3 on the year. The Blue Raiders’ losses have come to Murray State, Bradley and Belmont. MTSU holds wins over South Florida, UAB and Lipscomb. MTSU ranks 136th in KenPom’s metric while Tennessee ranks No. 3.
Senior Jestin Porter leads the way for MTSU, scoring 15.8 points per game. Porter shoots nearly 40 percent from three-point range.
Tennessee continues to be led by senior guard Chaz Lanier, who averages 19 points per game. The Volunteers are cruising towards conference play, but they’ll have to deal with a depth issue going forward. Center JP Estrella is already out for the season due to injury, while sophomore wing Cam Carr has entered the portal.
