The Volunteers are big favorites.
Tennessee basketball is back in action tonight, set to take on Syracuse in Knoxville. The Volunteers are coming off of a successful trip to the Bahamas, where they ousted both Virginia and Baylor to win the Baha Mar Championship.
Chaz Lanier was lights out during that tournament, nearly single-handedly beating Baylor in the opening minutes of the game. The North Florida transfer is shooting nearly 50 percent from three-point range so far this season.
Syracuse enters the night 4-2 on the year. The Orange have taken losses to Texas and Texas Tech — both close games. Tonight will be a challenge, however. Leading scorer J.J. Starling has been ruled out after suffering an injury during practice. Starling was averaging nearly 20 points per game so far this season.
KenPom ranks Syracuse 101st overall. Tennessee checks in at No. 2, trailing only Auburn.
