He’ll get his shot.
A true Tennessee legend will get his chance at the professional level after going undrafted in the 2025 MLB Draft. Hunter Ensley will join the Kansas City Royals organization after exhausting his eligibility in Knoxville.
Hunter Ensley is signing a free-agent deal with the Kansas City Royals.
Ensley had a legendary career at Tennessee. He had the slide to win the CWS in 2024, eluding a tag at home plate. He played in 205 games with 174 starts, hitting .303 with 29 homers and 141 RBIs.

Ensley is credited with two of the most iconic plays in Tennessee baseball history, both coming in the 2024 College World Series. The Volunteer outfielder crashed full speed into the wall to secure a catch in centerfield against North Carolina, then followed that up with an insane slide at home in the College World Series final to give Tennessee what ended up being the game-clinching run against Texas A&M.
He returned for a final season at Tennessee in 2025 where he hit .336 and drove in 62 runs. Ensley hit ten homeruns and drew 30 walks this year.
The 6-1, 196 pound outfielder joins 18 Volunteers who were drafted this week. Ensley ends his time in Knoxville after making 174 starts and appearing in 205 total games.
