One Tennessee target off the board.

Jalen Hood-Schifino has made his decision. After decommitting from Pittsburgh and seeing his recruitment explode, the high four-star combo guard narrowed his options all the way down to Tennessee and Indiana.

Today, he committed to the Hoosiers. Since narrowing his options to two, Indiana seemed to have all the buzz through last week. Today, new head coach Mike Woodson lands a big piece of his future roster.

Indiana has landed a commitment from guard Jalen Hood Schifino, who is currently ranked No. 23 in the latest 24/7 composite rankings. Huge get for new coach Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers staff.

Hood-Schifino had offers from Texas, Memphis, UConn, Florida State, Kansas and several others. Tennessee jumped in the race back in May — one of several elite targets that Rick Barnes and his staff are chasing in the class of 2022. Hood-Schifino ranked inside of the top 30 overall players in the class, per 247Sports.

Tennessee did already have four-star point guard BJ Edwards already committed to their class, so perhaps that played a role in the decision from JH-S. The Volunteers are also in the thick of a battle for five-star combo guard Cason Wallace, who comes out of Texas. Wallace narrowed his choices down to Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas last week. Five-star wing Brandon Miller is another top target.

Losing out on Hood-Schifino isn’t a big blow with Edwards already in place, but it does add some pressure on the staff to go beat out John Calipari and Kentucky for Wallace. That’s a massive battle to monitor now as we enter the fall, with Wallace set to take three final official visits before he decides.
