LED light show at Neyland Stadium part of several fan enhancements for the 2021 season

Knoxville, Tn - University Of Tennessee Vs University Of Florida

A new element will be in use at Neyland Stadium during the 2021 season — a trend that has been picking up steam all over the country. Tennessee has installed LED lighting, a system capable of producing the light shows that you’ve seen lately at places like Alabama and Georgia.

The lights were seen earlier this week, and Tennessee made an official announcement on Wednesday as a part of several new fan enhancements.

“A vibrant, state-of-the-art LED lighting system is in the final stages of completion in Neyland Stadium,” the release stated. “A dramatic LED light show will accentuate pregame and in-game festivities.”

Danny White was asked about the lights on Wednesday night during Vol Calls.

“It will be fun,” White said. “Just another element. We want to make sure we’re creating something fun for all ages. We want our student section — I think the game-day experience, what I told our band when the Chancellor and I got a chance to speak with the band and Josh just a few weeks ago — the game-day experience starts and stops with our student section. We have to have them in the stadium, packed the entire game. We need their engagement. We need them having an awesome time. Probably the LED light show is more impactful to them than some more of our other folks, but we’re going to do some things that are exciting for everyone in the stadium. I think people will see that we’re really trying to cater to fans of all ages.”

Other Tennessee fan enhancements for 2021

  • Fans will also notice “I will give my all” signage located in each section upon entering Neyland Stadium.
  • Upgraded fireworks will now be displayed off of the roof of the north endzone.
  • Toyota Volunteer Village will host pregame concerts, food trucks and other activities.
  • Truly’s Tailgate, outside of Gate 9, will be serving food and drinks before and during each home game.
  • DJ “Sterl the Pearl” — former Tennessee quarterback Sterling Henton — will remain at field level throughout each game.
  • The Vol Walk and Running Through the T will also return in 2021 after taking last year off due to COVID protocols. The pathway for the team will be widened, and physical contact with players, coaches and staffers will be prohibited.
