A big season is honored.
Tennessee didn’t have a lot of consistency this season, but Liam Doyle was one of a few steadying presences. The transfer from Ole Miss capped a big regular season by being named the SEC’s pitcher of the year. Doyle was also named to the All-SEC first team on Monday.

Doyle was joined by Andrew Fischer and Gavin Kilen on the All-SEC first team. Hunter Ensley was named to the second team.
Doyle is the first Tennessee pitcher to win the award since Chase Dollander back in 2022. Luke Hochevar took home the award back in 2005. Doyle, a junior left-hander, was named SEC pitcher of the week three times this season. He was a part of two combined no-hitters, posting a 2.72 ERA on the season.
He’s closing in on single-season Tennessee record, needing 18 more strikeouts to pass Hochevar’s 2005 season. Doyle currently has 137 punch outs, which leads the nation.
Per MLB.com, Doyle ranks as the tenth overall prospect looking ahead to the draft. He’s been consistently liked to go in the top five over the past couple of months, with MLB.com projecting him to go No. 2 to the Angels most recently.
First things first though, Doyle will try to help Tennessee straighten things out in the post season. The Volunteers will open the SEC Tournament on Wednesday before heading into the NCAA Tournament — most likely on the road — next week.
