Look: College Baseball Top 25 Poll After Opening Weekend

The 2023 college baseball season is underway and after a wild first few games, the D1Baseball top 25 poll has seen some big adjustments.

As has been the case for a long time now, the SEC was well-represented not just in the top 25, but in the top 10. LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Alabama and South Carolina gave the SEC nine representatives in the top 25, with those first seven occupying spots in the top 10.

Preseason No. 1 LSU kept their place at the top of the mountain thanks to a 3-0 start, while Tennessee’s presence might be the most head-scratching. The Vols went 1-2 to start the season, but only dropped from No. 2 to No. 3, with 2-1 Stanford taking their place.

Here is the full D1Baseball top 25 for the week of February 20:

  1. LSU
  2. Stanford
  3. Tennessee
  4. Ole Miss
  5. Texas A&M
  6. Wake Forest
  7. Florida
  8. TCU
  9. Arkansas
  10. Vanderbilt
  11. East Carolina
  12. North Carolina
  13. Maryland
  14. Virginia Tech
  15. Oklahoma State
  16. Louisville
  17. UCLA
  18. Southern Miss
  19. Virginia
  20. Alabama
  21. NC State
  22. Miami
  23. South Carolina
  24. Texas Tech
  25. Oregon

The biggest jump by far was TCU going from 15 to 8 after a 2-1 start. The Horned Frogs’ rise coincided with rival Oklahoma State falling from 9 to 15 after a 1-2 start of their season.

But the SEC is still the king of the college baseball mountain. The last five College World Series have featured seven SEC teams with four winners.

Will Stanford or any other non-SEC team be able to take the crown this year?
