Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler was helped off the court during Tuesday night’s home matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Zeigler sustained what appeared to be a serious knee injury during the first half of tonight’s contest. The star guard went down immediately and seemed to be in some significant pain.
The injury was non-contact — causing college basketball fans to fear for the worst.
Take a look at the injury here:
Zeigler is averaging 11.0 points and 5.5 assists per game for the No. 12-ranked Volunteers this season. In his second year, the sophomore guard has developed into a serious contributor for the top-tier SEC squad.
Zeigler was taken back into the locker room and evaluated for the injury. The team has ruled him out for the remainder of tonight’s game.
Senior guard Santiago Vescovi will likely slot into the point guard position if Zeigler is forced to miss an extended period of time.
