Long Beach Poly quarterback Nicholaus Iamaleava is a five-star prospect and one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2023. Today, he announced his commitment.
On Monday, Iamaleava announced that he is joining the Tennessee Volunteers. Speaking to 247Sports, Iamaleava said that the Vols had “everything” he was looking for and that the people there made the school “feel like home.”
“They had everything I was looking for,” Iamaleava said. “I met some incredible people, not just with the football program but everyone we met was so welcoming to us and made me feel like home.”
247Sports rates Iamaleava as the No. 7 overall prospect in the country for the Class of 2023. He is the No. 4 quarterback in the nation and the No. 2 prospect from the state of California.
Tennessee beat out some pretty stiff competition for his future services. Oregon, Miami and Georgia were high on his list from the get-go while Alabama and UCLA were getting strong looks too.

247Sports’ recruiting analyst Greg Biggins recently compared Nicholaus Iamaleava to former Oregon superstar Marcus Mariota. Given that Mariota won the Heisman and led the Ducks to the national title game, it’s good company to be in.
Naturally, he’s a huge pickup for Tennessee. He’s their highest-rated recruit since Kahlil McKenzie in 2015.
Playing the quarterback position, Iamaleava could wind up being worth his own weight in gold. Literally depending on how much money he gets offered via NIL deals.
Will Nicholaus Iamaleava help lift the Vols to the top of the SEC?
