Lanier exploded during his senior season at North Florida. After being nothing more than a role player for three straight seasons, Lanier popped with a jump to over 19 points per game as a senior. He shot a staggering 44 percent from three-point range, while shooting 88 percent from the free-throw stripe.
A Nashville native, Lanier attended high school at Ensworth Academy in the mid-state. Connecting the dots back to Tennessee wasn’t all that difficult, and today the rumors came true.
Lanier joins the Tennessee lineup at the 2-guard spot, pairing up with Jahmai Mashack. He joins transfers PF Igor Milicic, SF Darlinstone Dubar and C Felix Okpara. The new look Tennessee lineup will feature a ton of shooting, and a lot of length. Between all of the additions, Rick Barnes is hoping that’s enough to replace the outgoing output of Dalton Knecht, Santiago Vescovi, Josiah-Jordan James, Tobe Awaka and Jonas Aidoo.
Tennessee still has two open scholarships available.
