The Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and could conceivably go best player available now that they have Jimmy Garoppolo as their quarterback. But they’re still going to interview some of the top QB prospects regardless.
According to SI.com’s Albert Breer, the Raiders have scheduled visits with both Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker next week. Stroud is considered a top two QB in the draft, while Hooker is seen as a bit of a wildcard that could go anywhere in the first three rounds.
The Raiders have already met with Kentucky quarterback Will Levis and have other visits lined up with Alabama’s Bryce Young and Florida’s Anthony Richardson in the hours and days to come.
Suffice it to say, the Raiders are doing their due diligence as far as pre-draft QB evaluations go. And of those five, at least one of them is sure to be available when the Raiders are on the clock at No. 7 – assuming they stay there.
The Raiders have each of the top 5 QBs in the draft coming in for 30 visits. Bama’s Bryce Young is in Vegas today, Florida’s Anthony Richardson will be tomorrow; Ohio State’s CJ Stroud & Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker arrive next week, per sources.

Now that longtime starter Derek Carr is gone, the Las Vegas Raiders are filling their QBs room with people that head coach Josh McDaniels is familiar with. In addition to Jimmy Garoppolo, the Raiders recently signed longtime Patriots backup Brian Hoyer.
If the Raiders’ strategy is to run with Garoppolo for a few years and develop a young star who can take over in two or three seasons, then they might finally be in a position to enjoy some sustained success.
Will the Raiders draft a quarterback this year?
