Ramel Keyton getting an opportunity back in the state of Tennessee after Titans lose player to injury

It’s a homecoming of sorts for former wide receiver Ramel Keyton.

The former Tennessee Vols wide receiver is returning to the Volunteer State, having reached an agreement with the Tennessee Titans on Saturday, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

With Treylon Burks injuring his collarbone, Titans are signing former Raiders WR Ramel Keyton, per his agent Zac Hiller of LAA.

Keyton’s union with the Titans comes on the heels of an opportunity via injury. Titans WR Treylon Burks suffered a shoulder injury diving for a ball from Cam Ward during practice on Saturday. Burks got up, but was holding his shoulder and left the field. Ian Rapoport later reported that he had suffered a broken collarbone that will keep him out for the start of the season.

While you never want to see someone get hurt, it does create an interesting opportunity for Keyton in Nashville. Out of all the rosters he could have signed with, the Titans’ wide receiver group has about the least amount of established talent on it when you look past #1 WR Calvin Ridley.

Keyton, who made the Raiders’ 53-man roster last year as an undrafted free agent, has the vertical ability to pose a threat, and now he’ll have a quarterback that excels at throwing the ball deep down the field in Cam Ward.

Keyton appeared in 55 games for Tennessee from 2019-23. He had 86 catches for 1456 yards and 11 touchdowns. He provided some memorable moments for Tennessee, particularly during the 2022 season. He had a diving 43-yard catch against Florida to help UT go ahead before halftime, an 18-yard catch on the final drive in the Alabama win, and a 46-yard touchdown in the Vols’ 31-14 win over Clemson in the Orange Bowl.
