The teams are set — the dates are not.
The Southeastern Conference has announced opponents for next season’s basketball schedule, complete with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma. The new look slate will feature home and home matchups against rivals Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Florida.
Tennessee will hit the road to face both conference newcomers, travelling to Austin to face Texas and to Norman to face Oklahoma. At Auburn and at Texas A&M figure to be two of the tougher games on the Vols’ slate all year long.
The Volunteers will host Alabama and Arkansas in Knoxville, both of which will be circled dates on the calendar.
Rick Barnes has retooled the bulk of his roster, most notably replacing Dalton Knecht from last year’s team. Four starters in total left — Santiago Vescovi and Josiah-Jordan James saw their eligibility expire, while Jonas Aidoo hit the portal and landed with Arkansas. Key rotational player Tobe Awaka left for Arizona.
Tennessee reloaded with wing/forwards Darlinstone Dubar and Igor Milicic, while adding Felix Okpara to the frontcourt. The Volunteers will be long and they’ll have a lot of shooting, but how all these pieces fit together remains to be seen. The Volunteers aren’t done yet either, still with three open spots on the roster.
Tennessee will undoubtedly have a loaded non-conference slate, as they always do. That will lead into conference play, which will begin on January 4th. Dates and times will be announced at a later date.
For now, all we have is opponents. Take a look at the full list below.
