Big pickup.
Tennessee has picked up a big commitment out of the transfer portal this afternoon, landing Darlinstone Dubar from Hofstra. The 6-8 wing averaged 17.8 points for Hofstra last season, which was his third year with the program.
Dubar made the announcement via social media.

Dubar transferred to Hofstra after spending one season at Iowa State. As a graduate transfer, he will have one season of eligibility to play for the Vols.
The Charlotte native will help replace a lot of offense next season for Rick Barnes, who is looking to replace All-American guard Dalton Knecht. Barnes will also have to replace Santiago Vescovi and Josiah-Jordan James in the starting lineup, along with Jonas Aidoo and potentially Tobe Awaka. Aidoo and Awaka are both in the transfer portal, but Awaka could return following Aidoo’s entry.
Dubar has shot 40 percent from three-point range for the past two seasons. He added 6.8 rebounds per game this season, along with 0.9 blocks and 1.2 steals. He adds some much needed shooting and length to a lineup that very suddens needs both.
Dubar scored 20+ points in 12 games last season, and 25+ in four.
Tennessee hosted Dubar on an official visit over the weekend. He was joined by transferring Belmont guard Cade Tyson, who has a visit lined up with North Carolina next weekend.
Assuming Dubar signs with Tennessee, the Volunteers would have five open scholarships remaining as things currently stand. Tennessee still needs help at just about every position, so expect the transfer portal news to keep coming over the next couple of weeks.
