The first media poll is out.
The preseason top 25 is officially here from the AP. Media members from around the country sent their votes in, creating a ranking to go alongside of the coaches poll.
Tennessee will begin at No. 15 in both polls. The Volunteers are sort of flying under the radar to enter the season, but by and large, this is where most have slotted them in all offseason. Tennessee is the seventh-ranked SEC team in the poll, trailing (1) Georgia, (4) Texas, (5) Alabama, (6) Ole Miss, (11) Missouri and (13) LSU.
(16) Oklahoma and (20) Texas A&M rounded out the SEC in the poll, giving the conference a whopping nine teams total to start. Kentucky and Auburn also received a handful of votes.
Tennessee’s first test will on September 7th, where they’ll face NC State in Charlotte. The Wolfpack checked in at No. 24 in the poll.
