The new polls are out.
Well, what a mess that was.
Week six didn’t disappoint, giving us several upsets across the board to really shake up the standings. Unfortunately, Tennessee was one of those teams that was upset. The Volunteers just never got it going offensively, then let up two late scores to blow a 14-3 lead. Tennessee’s puzzling final drive came up empty, and the Vols took their first loss of the season.
Tennessee moves from No. 4 to No. 8, still getting propped up a bit from other results from around the country.
The big one, of course, was Alabama going down to Vanderbilt. The shocking result sent Alabama from No. 1 to No. 8. Now both Tennessee and Alabama have significantly less room to breathe in terms of making it to the College Football Playoff.
Missouri started the day with a stinker, getting hammered by Texas A&M. Michigan also went to Washington and lost. Miami made a wild comeback to get past Cal, somehow staying unbeaten after two close calls in back to back weeks.
