The Vols lost — but so did (almost) everyone else.
After a truly insane week across the entire college basketball landscape, Tennessee has fallen to No. 7 in the Coaches Poll released on Monday morning.
The Volunteers fell to Mississippi State on Wednesday night, falling behind early and seeing their comeback bid fall just short. Tennessee once again fell behind on Saturday to a Georgia team that had won ten straight, but Dalton Knecht’s heroics ended up saving the day late.
Tennessee now sits at 12-4 overall with a 2-1 mark in conference play. They trail Auburn and Alabama at the top of the SEC, with both teams starting 3-0.
The good news for the Volunteers? Quite literally almost everyone else at the top of the college basketball food chain suffered a loss too. It was the wildest week of the college basketball season yet, as eight of the top ten teams in the AP Poll took a loss.
