Barnes has made his decision.
Rick Barnes moved fast to replace Rod Clark on staff. Tennessee will hire Amorrow Morgan as an assistant coach after Clark left for Indiana earlier this week. Morgan was previously at Cal before taking a job at Florida State last month.

Morgan is highly regarded as a recruiter, helping Cal pull in Jeremiah Wilkinson, who went on to become the ACC’s sixth man of the year. He was also instrumental in pulling Andrej Stojakovic out of the transfer portal from Stanford.
Clark, who joined Tennessee back in 2021, was another big time recruiter for Barnes at Tennessee. Morgan will replace his role on staff, and Barnes is hoping for similar results.
Morgan has made previous stops at Loyola-Chicago and South Alabama. He helped Loyola-Chicago to a Missouri Valley Conference Championship in 2022, along with an NCAA Tournament appearance. Morgan served as the associate head coach during his time with South Alabama.
“Rod was great,” Rick Barnes said this week, “but you know what? We feel we’ve got that position covered … We’ve got it covered because there’s a lot of people that would obviously love to be at the University of Tennessee … we are excited about the direction that we are going and we’ve got it pretty much filled.”
He did, in fact, have it covered.
Many thought this would be a potential landing spot for Rodney Terry, who has coached under Barnes for several seasons. Barnes instead opts to go the younger route here, hiring another up and comer in Morgan.
