A definite name to know going forward.
A four-star prospect from just up the road in Greeneville is set to visit Knoxville this weekend. Trey Thompson, a 6-8, 220 pound power forward prospect, will take his official visit to Tennessee over the next couple of days.

Thompson is the fourth ranked player in the state of Tennessee for the class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He ranks 131st overall in the cycle and checks in as the 26th ranked power forward prospect.
Tennessee offered Thompson back in November, playing a little catch-up with the rest of the field. Thompson also holds offers from Purdue, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, UConn, Virginia, Xavier, Vanderbilt and several others.
Thompson has already taken an official visit to Purdue, which happened in November just after receiving his Tennessee offer. He’ll now take official looks at Tennessee and Iowa this month as he narrows his choices.
Tennessee has yet to land a commitment in the early 2026 recruiting process. The Volunteers inked five prep prospects in the class of 2025.
Thompson is certainly a name to know going forward as Tennessee tries to keep him home and away from a couple of Big Ten programs.
