The second big target of the weekend.
A second name in the transfer portal has emerged for Tennessee, and he wouldn’t have to move too far if he ended up picking the Volunteers. Cade Tyson, a 6-7 guard from Belmont, will take a visit to Knoxville this weekend.
Tennessee basketball will host Belmont transfer wing Cade Tyson on an official visit this weekend.

Tyson is coming off of his sophomore season where he scored over 16 points per game for the Bruins. He added 5.9 rebounds while handling 31 minutes of playing time per game. Tyson shot a spectacular 46 percent from three-point range, making him perhaps the top shooter in all of the transfer portal.
Tennessee, of course, is looking to replace their prized portal addition from last season. Rick Barnes struck gold with Dalton Knecht last season, but now faces the big task of replacing all of that production. Tyson is a similar type of player, and certainly makes sense with the departures of Josiah-Jordan James and Santiago Vescovi, too.
Tyson will visit Knoxville along with Darlinstone Dubar, who is also a three-point shooter with plenty of length.
Tyson is originally from Monroe, North Carolina. His home-state Tar Heels are also in the mix here, reportedly set to host Tyson on a visit next weekend.
Tennessee now has six open scholarships to fill this offseason. Jonas Aidoo and Tobe Awaka both hit the portal this week, joining Freddie Dilione and D.J. Jefferson. In this portal era, you can pretty much expect to rebuild your roster every offseason. That’s what’s happened here for Rick Barnes, but as we know, the portal does work both ways.
Expect plenty more visits to develop over the next several days.
