The Vols just need one more win to punch their ticket to the title series.
Tennessee and Florida State are set for a rematch in Omaha on Wednesday afternoon. The Seminoles have battled back after a devastating loss in the opening game on Friday night, eliminating both Virginia and North Carolina on their way to this point.
Florida State now has to beat Tennessee two consecutive times to advance to the championship series. The Volunteers obviously need just one win from here to advance.
Tennessee rallied back in the most dramatic of ways on Friday night to beat the Seminoles. A furious comeback in the bottom of the ninth saw the Volunteers erase an 11-8 Florida State lead, then Dylan Dreiling finished the job with a walkoff double to win it.
The Vols went on to take care of North Carolina with ease on Sunday night, 6-1.
Now No. 1 national seed Tennessee is set for a rematch with the No. 8 national seed, Florida State. First pitch is loosely scheduled for 3 p.m. ET, pending some weather and a game before. Kentucky and Florida’s elimination game was postponed from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning at 11 am ET. Tennessee and Florida State will follow.
The Volunteers are looking for their first ever appearance in the College World Series Championship Series. The best-of-three series will settle it for the National Title. Texas A&M remains undefeated and in the driver’s seat in bracket two.
