Things haven’t gone well since early April for the Tennessee baseball team, and the rankings are starting to reflect that.
After dropping 2 out of 3 over a very rainy weekend in Knoxville, the Vols dropped in both the Baseball America (13th) and D1 Baseball (15th) polls.

At this point, it’s hard to argue with just about any drop the voters give the Vols. Tennessee has now dropped 4 of their last 5 series and their last three at home, including an ugly home series loss to Kentucky.
That being said, there is still plenty of opportunity for the Vols to rise back towards the top in the SEC standings. Despite the nosedive over the last month, Tennessee remains in a fifth-place tie and are just one game back of third place Georgia and LSU. Here’s the top half of the standings:
1) Texas 19-5
2) Arkansas 17-7
3) LSU 15-9
4) Georgia 15-9
5) Tennessee 14-10
5) Vanderbilt 14-10
7) Auburn 13-11
7) Oklahoma 13-11
Tennessee will get a chance to right the ship in a big way this weekend against in-state rival Vanderbilt at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
