It was a good Sunday for the Tennessee Vols in the standings. The Vols moved up in both polls after a couple of wild SEC games on Saturday.
Ole Miss fell to Kentucky at home 20-17. Georgia’s ridiciulous comeback from 28-0 down to ahead 34-33 was for not after Bama scored late and won 41-34.
As a result, the Vols moved up to #4 in both polls, leapfrogging Georgia.

It’s the first time since 2022 that the Vols have sat ahead of the Bulldogs in a poll, and that year was obviously an outlier for what’s been the case over the last several years. Some might argue that Bulldogs shouldn’t have dropped, but, well, you can’t fall down 28-0 and expect to be considered to have played a strong game. Paul Finebaum called it perhaps the greatest SEC game he’s ever seen. I laugh in 2022-Tennessee-vs-Alabama.
What that means is that the bullseye on Tennessee’s back gets even bigger. The Vols are a 13.5-point favorite at Arkansas on Saturday, and don’t think the Hogs won’t be as up for this game as any on their schedule. The Vols could also learn a thing or two by not being too worked up about the rankings, as Miami proved on Friday night by barely surviving Virginia Tech. Rat poison.
The Vols face the Hogs on Saturday night at 7:30 pm ET on ABC.
