Here we go — game one.
Tennessee and Texas A&M are set to kick things off in the National Championship series in Omaha. Both sides cruised their way through their portion of the College World Series bracket to get to this point. Now both are looking for their first title in baseball.
Pitching matchup
Tennessee: Chris Stamos (3-0, 360 ERA)
Texas A&M: Ryan Prager (9-1, 2.88 ERA)
“We don’t have anything different,” Vitello said when asked of his pitching plans. “Zander would make the joke that he pitched the mid-week game like he did the other day. But we’ll kind of take it one game at a time, literally, with our guys, withstanding Beam.”
Stamos started the SEC Tournament win over Texas A&M, tossing a season-high 3.1 innings during the outing. He’s expected to give way rather quickly to AJ Causey, just as he’s done for much of the season. We saw him come out of the game after just eight pitches against Florida State in the College World Series opener.
