Tennessee is still in the hunt.

One of Tennessee’s top targets in the class of 2026 has trimmed his options to four. Savion Hiter, a five-star running back out of Virginia, is down to Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia and Michigan, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Hiter has already set up official visits to each school during the month of June. Tennessee will get the final look during the weekend of June 19-22. Hiter dropped Penn State from his list of finalists.

The 5-11, 200 pound running back is the 17th ranked prospect in the class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the top ranked running back in the country and the top prospect in the state of Virginia.

Tennessee has been involved here for quite some time, dating back to a spring 2023 offer. The Volunteers have gotten him on campus a handful of times, most notably last fall for the Kentucky game weekend.

Hiter averaged 10.8 yards per carry last season, playing at Virginia’s 5A level. That included 1,698 yards on the ground, 26 touchdowns and another 199 receiving yards. He played both ways, recording seven sacks. Hiter also took back three kicks for touchdowns.

Tennessee’s 2026 class is currently anchored by five-star, No. 1 overall prospect Faizon Brandon. The Volunteers could certainly make another big splash by also adding the nation’s top running back prospect here, but they have some stiff competition to beat out.
