A big get, but we’ll see if he actually gets to Knoxville.
Tennessee has picked up another baseball commitment out of the transfer portal, adding Henry Ford from Virginia. The outfielder and first baseman is one of the top players in the transfer portal in this cycle.

The 6-5, 225 pounder is an obvious MLB Draft risk. Ford has two seasons of college eligibility remaining, but the consensus top 100 prospect will hear his name called early in next month’s MLB Draft.
Ford, along with several other Cavaliers, left Virginia after head coach Brian O’Connor left for the Mississippi State job.
A Virginia native, Ford actually attended Baylor School in Chattanooga in high school. He’s coming off of a sophomore season that saw him hit .362 with 11 home runs. Ford drove in 46 runs for the Cavaliers, potentially giving Tony Vitello another big bat in the lineup.
Ford is the sixth addition for Tennessee out of the transfer portal so far this offseason. The Volunteers have picked up right-handers Clay Edmondson, Mason Estrada, Bo Rhudy as well as utility man Garrett Wright and two-way player DJ Newman.
Ford will be a name to watch very closely in the draft as he determines the next step of his path.
