The Vols are favored to win it all.
The No. 1 overall seed Tennessee Volunteers made quick work of the Knoxville Regional last weekend. Now, according to the oddsmakers, they have the easiest path forward to Omaha. That would be thanks to a shocking upset pulled off by Evansville, which was able to overcome East Carolina, VCU and Wake Forest to advance to the supers.
Evansville became just the ninth No. 4 seed to advance out of a regional and make it to the supers. They run into the buzzsaw that is Knoxville, where they’ll face the No. 1 team in the country.
With Tennessee’s perceived easier path to the College World Series, the Volunteers have overtaken Texas A&M for the best odds to win the National Championship. Tennessee began the tournament trailing the Aggies (+500/+600), but those odds have come down significantly after the opening weekend.
Tennessee is now +300 to win it all, while Texas A&M is +310. The Aggies draw Oregon this weekend in College Station.
Tennessee is -1400 to take care of Evansville in the supers.
