Well, the Vols did what the Vols do lately, and that’s drop a series on its final day. This time Tennessee was outclassed on Saturday by Arkansas 8-4 to lose the last two games and drop the series 2-1.
The result? Something UT fans know all too well lately, a slide south in the rankings. D1 Baseball has UT at 21, with Baseball America at 23.

Fortunately, this week ends the time in which baseball polls have any level of relevance. From now on, it’s about seeding and results, particularly this week as the Vols, seeded 8th in the SEC tournament, look to make a run in Hoover to gain a possible hosting opportunity in the NCAA tournament, which gets underway next weekend.
We’ll find out soon enough if the Vols can make that run, as Tennessee will start tournament play on Wednesday against either Missouri or Alabama.
