Well, the Vols’ third series loss out of their last four is starting to finally weigh on their place in the polls, as evidenced on Monday.
The Vols fell down to 12 in the newest D1 Baseball poll, their lowest mark of the season by far, after dropping 2 of 3 games at LSU over the weekend. Baseball America was far less harsh, dropping UT from 5 to 7.

It’s tough to argue, at this point, about where the Vols deserve to be ranked, as they haven’t been playing like a top 10 team over the last month. They deserve whatever they get at this point. The Vols got their doors blown off the last two games of the A&M series and dropped 2 of 3 to Kentucky before losing a winnable series last weekend against the Tigers. Tennessee allowed a 6 spot in the bottom of the ninth on Friday to lose 6-3. Otherwise, Tennessee likely picks up a huge road series win and the narrative on Tennessee is MUCH different going into a big series this weekend against #10/5 Auburn.
We’ll see this weekend if the Vols can reverse their slide in a big SEC showdown.
