Walter Nolen, the No. 1 ranked recruit in the 2022 cycle, narrowed down his recruitment to three programs on Tuesday night.
Nolen is a 6-foot-4, 325-pound defensive lineman out of the state of Tennessee. He’s the No. 1 overall recruit in the state, at his position and in the entire 2022 cycle, per the 247Sports composite score. The five-star has received offers from almost every marquee program in the nation, as a result. It doesn’t look like he’ll be leaving SEC territory, though.
Nolen announced on Tuesday that he’s cut down his list of schools to Georgia, Tennessee and Texas A&M. There’s no current favorite at the moment, but the Volunteers will be tough to beat given their proximity to Nolen’s hometown. Georgia and Texas A&M are obviously the more successful programs at the moment, though. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Take a look.

Walter Sr., the five-star recruit’s dad, had good things to say about the Tennessee Volunteers in a recent interview about his son’s recruitment.
“Tennessee it’s in-state,” Walter Sr. said via 247Sports. “Coach G (Rodney Garner) is one of the best. It’s not too far from home. I think because he’s an in-state kid, I think he likes the idea of everybody in the state especially from Memphis pulling for him.”
At this point in Walter Nolen’s recruitment, there’s still plenty of time for him to change his mind. But for now Georgia, Tennessee and Texas A&M are the finalists.
