The former Tennessee DB lands at Georgia Tech.
It didn’t take Warren Burrell long to find a new home for his final season of eligibility. The veteran cornerback announced on Sunday evening that he had committed to Georgia Tech for the 2024 football season.

Burrell, the first Tennessee player to announce his intention to hit the transfer portal, played five seasons for the Volunteers. He will return home to the state of Georgia to play his final season of eligibility for the Yellow Jackets.
The former three-star prospect joined Tennessee way back in 2019, immediately playing as a true freshman for Jeremy Pruitt. He started the first four games of the year, appearing in nine overall. He would play in eight games in 2020. Burrell started 12 games in 2021, surviving a coaching change. He was credited with seven passes defensed.
Burrell was hurt during the 2022 season after appearing in the first two games of the year. He was able to take a medical redshirt, but was unable to return to his usual role. He played sparingly in 2023, despite a number of different injuries in the secondary.
Frankly, a fresh start was needed for both sides. Tennessee has younger guys ready to roll at the position, while Burrell can hopefully find more playing time down in Atlanta.
