Unreal.
I’m still not exactly sure how, but Tennessee found a way to win game one of their College World Series last night against No. 8 national seed Florida State. Tennessee trailed for most of the game, despite getting to Florida State ace Jamie Arnold early on.
The Seminoles peppered the Tennessee bullpen to build an 11-7 lead going into the 8th. The Vols would get one back there, setting up a three-run deficit going into the bottom of the ninth.
What happened next was nothing short of legendary.
Kavares Tears got the ball rolling with a triple, where a sac fly would bring him home. Christian Moore added to his cycle with another double. Blake Burke might have had the at bat of the year, complete with an oh-so-close check swing.
Burke ended up knocking two in to tie it, then Dylan Dreiling smacked an oppo double to end it. Simply unbelievable.
Tennessee got Florida State’s best shot — with their ace — and beat them with a bullpen. That’s a pretty good sign going forward. The Volunteers move on to face North Carolina on Sunday night.
