No. 1 Tennessee is back on the road this weekend for another SEC series, set to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia. The Volunteers rolled through the midweek, beating Queens to the tune of 14-3.
Tennessee takes its 23-2 overall record and 5-1 conference record on the road for the second straight weekend. The Volunteers hold series wins over top ten teams Alabama and Florida, and now get South Carolina which is just 1-5 so far in SEC play.
Liam Doyle will be looking to bounce back from a rocky start last weekend in Tuscaloosa, where he gave up five early runs. Doyle still ended up going six innings, throwing 110 pitches. He’ll look for a better result on the scoreboard tonight against the Gamecocks, bringing his 2.03 ERA to the mound.
Gavin Kilen brings his .431 batting average and ten home runs into the series, pacing the Tennessee offense which ranks second in the nation in runs score per game (10.8). They’ll face South Carolina lefty Jake McCoy to open, who brings a 6.57 ERA to the mound.
Friday and Saturday’s games will be streaming only on ESPN+ and SEC Network+. Sunday’s game three will be shown live on SEC Network.
