He’ll head to France after playing in the NBA Summer League.

After spending two weeks in the NBA Summer League with the Detroit Pistons, Zakai Zeigler is headed for his next challenge. The legendary Tennessee point guard will now head to France to begin his professional career with Nanterre 92, which plays in France’s top professional league (Pro A).

The announcement was made via X on Wednesday.

Zeigler played four games in the Summer League with the Pistons, averaging nine points and three assists per game. He shot over 45 percent from three-point range, playing alongside of his former teammate Chaz Lanier.

The undersized point guard was always going to have an uphill climb to make an NBA roster, despite a nice showing over the last couple of weeks. Zeigler became Tennessee’s all-time assist leader last season, along with putting up the most assists in a single season in school history.

Zeigler scored 13.6 points per game while dishing out 7.4 assists in his final season in Knoxville. It’s the latest success story for Rick Barnes, who found Zeigler at Peach Jam as an overlooked prospect several years back. Zeigler forced his way onto the floor as a freshman, and the rest is history.

It will be interesting to see if Troy Henderson can follow in his footsteps…
