It isn’t super uncommon for road locker rooms to be very lacking in comparison to the often gaudy home locker rooms across football-rich SEC programs. Florida football is at Vanderbilt today, and all things considered, Dan Mullen opted to spend as little time in the Commodores facilities as possible today.
According to reporters at the game, the Gators showed up later than road teams usually do for a road game today. They were in and out of the locker room quickly, getting dressed “at the last second,” according to Vanderbilt Hustler editor Simon Gibbs. At halftime, up just 17-10 on the winless ‘Dores, Florida is decided to take care of preparations in one end zone.
This could be taken as a bit of a slight on Vandy’s facilities, but during this season, as COVID-19 gets worse by the week, it makes sense for Mullen to avoid having his team cramped in a small locker room that might not have the best ventilation. The pandemic has claimed at least 17 college football games already this weekend, including a last second cancellation of Clemson at Florida State. Florida football is able to get its game in today, but that doesn’t mean people have to take their guard down for the four hours that play is happening on the field.
To Mullen’s credit, the halftime adjustments have looked good so far. The Gators came out firing in the second half, scoring a touchdown on a 75-yard drive to open the second half. Dameon Pierce punched it in on a one-yard run to cap the drive.

Can’t do this in Florida most weeks. 71 degrees out there. Vanderbilt’s visitor locker room is cramped, and Dan Mullen is taking extra precautions with the #Gators after the post-TAMU outbreak. https://t.co/Ly2CgutHgg

Once again, its been the Kyle Trask show for Mullen’s offense. The Heisman candidate is 20-for-26 for 304 yards and two touchdowns.
Star receiver Kadarius Toney has five catches for 90 yards and a touchdown on the day so far.
The Gators got off to a slow start, but they have outgained the Commodores 397 yards to 235. Today’s game is on ABC.
