The Vanderbilt Commodores are ushering in a revised look for its athletic programs. On Tuesday, Vandy unveiled a brand new logo.

“We’ve launched a refreshed visual identity designed to reflect our forward momentum and to build pride and visibility across the institution and athletics program,” Vanderbilt tweeted.

The Commodores’ new branding features an updated “V,” ditching the iconic star for a block logo of the letter. According to Vanderbilt’s athletic department, the logo will debut in fall of 2023 to provide time for new uniform designs and production.

The “Star V” isn’t going away entirely though. The university is planning to rework that logo as well and give it new life as secondary branding for its various teams.

“From my perspective, the timing is perfect in that it illustrates the ‘new era’ that we have spoken of often,” athletic director Candice Lee said in a statement. Adding, “It’s a new day, with new energy, alignment and momentum to match. It’s another example of Vandy United in action.”

The rebranding won’t stop with just uniforms and merch; as the school also plans to utilize the new V on its athletic facilities over the next several years.

Vanderbilt’s new look has already drawn a number of reactions across the college sports world.
