As an upperclassmen, Scotty Pippen Jr. has made terrific leaps since he first arrived on Vanderbilt‘s campus. From averaging 12 points and four assists per game to 20 and five, Pippen led the SEC in PPG and finished fourth in steals. But now, the NBA is calling, the Commodore said.

Taking to Twitter Monday, Pippen thanked Vandy and the city of Nashville for everything over the past three seasons, before announcing his decision to go pro.

I want to thank coach Stackhouse, all of my coaches, teammates, support staff and professors … Commodore Nation – Thank you for supporting me from day one. I felt the love every time I stepped foot on the court in Memorial. It’s a feeling I’ll never forget. At this time, I’ve decided to take the next step in my journey. I am entering the NBA Draft and will sign with an agent. Anchor Down!

Son of NBA great Scottie Pippen, the Vandy guard started 36 games for the Commodores this season. In those games he averaged 20.4 points, 4.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds, Pippen Jr. is a smaller, crafty guard in the mold of the Raptors Fred VanVleet.

The Los Angeles-native emerged as a floor general over his time in Nashville and currently holds a second round grade from most NBA scouts.
