Scotty Pippen Jr.’s star continues to rise. On Sunday, the junior guard led his team to an NIT win and made some history in the process.

Behind a 32-point performance against Dayton, Pippen became Vanderbilt’s all-time points leader for a single season. The son of the NBA great was the first Commodore to ever surpass 700 points in a season, and currently sits at 708. As it stands, Pippen is 12th on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,549.

“The environment was great,” Pippen said after the win via Vandy Hustler‘s Justin Hershey. “The fans came out today and the last couple games…If its my last game [here], it’s a good way to go out.”

Vanderbilt will move on to the next round to face Xavier. But the question on many minds is if Scotty Pippen Jr. will move on to the NBA.

Head coach Jerry Stackhouse said he wouldn’t discuss Pippen’s future until after the guard announces his plans at the conclusion of the season. But he spoke glowingly of the entire team Sunday. Saying, “We feel like an NCAA Tournament team when we’re healthy like now. But we’re excited to play in these games. Our guys are engaged.”

It was a dramatic win for Pippen and the Commodores. But thanks to his clutch free throws and a timely assist, Vandy was able to force overtime and eventually come out with a big tournament win.
