Before the Texans selected C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick, another AFC team thought about trading up to pick No. 3 to take him. Obviously, those plans were derailed by Houston.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Titans were the team interested in moving up the board for Stroud.
Once the Texans selected Stroud, the Titans “dropped out of the bidding” for the No. 3 pick. That allowed the Texans to negotiate a deal with the Cardinals for that selection.
That had to be a brutal series of events for the Titans. Instead of trading up for Stroud, they’ll now have to face him twice a year for the foreseeable future.

The Titans addressed the quarterback position on Day 2 of the draft, selecting Kentucky’s Will Levis.
It’s possible Levis and Stroud clash this upcoming season. For now though, Ryan Tannehill is listed as the starter in Tennessee.
