The Tennessee Titans are reportedly interested in adding a cornerback

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly interested in adding a veteran cornerback in free agency, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Fowler wrote a terrific article that had a bunch of interesting nuggets in it. In addition to corner, the Titans are looking at potential backup quarterbacks and pass rushers.

Adding a veteran cornerback would be understandable. L’Jarius Sneed remains on the PUP and there should be legitimate concern over his effectiveness given how little football he’s played since joining the Titans. Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is currently CB1 in Nashville and Darrell Baker Jr. is starting opposite him. Roger McCreary is the nickel corner.

The potential success of the Titans’ cornerback room may solely rely on Sneed. There are various free-agent corners that would improve Dennard Wilson’s secondary. We’ve identified five intriguing options in particular.

Asante Samuel Jr.

Still just 25, Asante Samuel Jr. is the highest-upside corner available. He’s still on the market because he’s recovering from last year’s season-ending injury. Samuel Jr. is undersized, but has routinely played boundary corner, which is where the Titans are searching for help.

Trayvon Mullen

Trayvon Mullen was a 2019 second-round pick who hasn’t met expectations. The former Clemson standout spent the previous campaigns with the Baltimore Ravens, but he didn’t actually play a regular-season snap. Mullen would be a buy-low candidate with untapped potential if he’s healthy.

Stephon Gilmore

Stephon Gilmore probably prefers to join a Super Bowl contender. The five-time Pro Bowler isn’t his elite self at 34, but still turned in an effective campaign for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024. Gilmore is searching for his sixth different team in as many years.

Kendall Fuller

Kendall Fuller was released by the Miami Dolphins earlier this offseason. The 30-year-old cornerback had a stellar coverage grade of 62.4 last season, per Pro Football Focus, but the Dolphins didn’t think he was worth a bloated salary anymore. Fuller should find a suitor shortly.

Rasul Douglas

Rasul Douglas struggled last season, but he’s now a year removed from a serious 2023 knee injury. That makes Douglas, who was outstanding from 2021 to 2023, an intriguing bounce-back candidate. He’s garnered interest around the league this offseason.
