Five-time Pro-Bowl defensive lineman Jurrell Casey has retired after 10 NFL seasons.
Casey, who was selected by the Titans in the third round of the 2011 draft, played nine seasons in Tennessee before finishing out his career with a short stint in Denver. Through his decade in the league, the southern California native logged 507 tackles, 117 QB hits, 84 tackles for loss, eight forced fumbles and 51.0 sacks (seventh in Titans franchise history).
“My career, it was amazing, just to have the opportunity to play this game. It was beautiful,” Casey said, per TennesseeTitans.com. “I always tried to play to the best of my ability, and always considered it an honor.
“To be able to get drafted by Tennessee, and to be able to live out a lifetime dream is everything a young man from Long Beach, California could dream of. All the relationships that I made along the way, we had a brotherhood. And Tennessee, it was a great place to call home for me and my family.”

Throughout his NFL career, Casey, now 31 years old, has been relentlessly durable. During his time with the Titans, he missed just five games with injury. Of the 139 games he was available, he started in 137. Unfortunately, that streak ended with a season-ending bicep tear after just three games with the Broncos this past season.
In addition to becoming known as a great player, Casey also developed a reputation as a great man. In recognition of his work around the Nashville community, the former Titans star was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award on two occasions.
Casey will now put his playing days behind him to focus on his family — and to finish his college degree at USC.
“Dad and husband, that’s always going to be at the top,” Casey said. “But I made a promise to my wife that I would go back to school. I left as a junior and I want to finish school and be a college graduate, and then go from there. It’s something else that we can celebrate together. And after that, I know there is a lot ahead of us, and I want the Lord control our destiny from there.”
