Anthony Firkser earns parking spot next to Mike Vrabel: 'That's a little nerve-wracking'

August 2, 2021 by Titans Wire Leave a Comment

When Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel revealed his four offseason award winners, tight end Anthony Firkser was one of them, along with wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and defensive linemen Larrell Murchison and Teair Tart.

One of the perks of getting the recognition is getting a better parking spot and Firkser’s just so happens to be next to Vrabel’s, where the head coach parks his white Nissan Titan.

According to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online, Vrabel’s truck went over the line and into Firkser’s space on Day 1 of training camp, something Firkser will have to be mindful of when opening his door so as not to hit Vrabel’s truck.

“That’s a little nerve-wracking,” Firkser said. “I have to stay away from his (truck).”

Another downside of having to park next to Vrabel is that he’ll have a better understanding of the tight end’s schedule.

“I have to try and get here before him, and leave after him, and that might be hard,” Firkser joked.

Firkser, who is vying for the team’s starting tight end role and has put on extra weight this offseason to help him as a blocker, doesn’t think he did anything more special than his teammates to garner the offseason award.

“I don’t think that I did anything extraordinary than any of the other guys who were working out this offseason,” Firkser explained. “Everyone was here, trying to help the team. But I was thankful for the award.”

The only thing that can stop Firkser from grabbing an every-down role is his blocking, which has been the biggest issue for the Harvard product in the past. His pass-catching prowess is not in question, though.
