Bleacher Report names Titans’ Mount Rushmore

Who is on the Tennessee Titans’ Mount Rushmore?

The Tennessee Titans have had some legitimate superstars and Hall of Famers over the previous 25 years. In timely fashion with the Fourth of July festivities, Bleacher Report recently took aim at naming every team’s Mount Rushmore from 2000 onward. That of course disqualifies Warren Moon, Earl Campbell, Mike Munchak, and other Oilers/Titans greats.

Overall production, postseason success, contributions to team success, individual accolades, memorable moments and any other relevant team- or player-specific factors were all considered, per BR.

Derrick Henry, Steve McNair, Chris Johnson, and Jurrell Casey are the choices for the Titans.

“Two selections for the Tennessee Titans were relatively easy,” Kristopher Knox wrote. “Derrick Henry is one of the most unique running backs in NFL history, while the late, great Steve McNair helped usher Tennessee into the current century.”

There’s no argument there. McNair is still the greatest QB in franchise history, and Henry was a true face-of-the-franchise talent who ranks in franchise rushing yards behind just Eddie George. He racked up 93 total touchdowns and one Offensive Player of the Year award.

Johnson is a no-argument inclusion as well. He’s responsible for one of the greatest individual performances in franchise history with his 2,000-yard season in 2009 en route to his own OPOY honors. By far, the most controversial inclusion is Casey.

Casey played nine seasons in Tennessee and racked up five consecutive Pro Bowl nods from 2015 to 2019. B/R probably didn’t want to include three running backs, and Casey was Tennessee’s lone defender to make the list, but did George get fair consideration here? Yes, he was drafted in 1996, and the list begins in 2000, but George rushed for a career-high 1,509 yards in 2000 and enjoyed two additional 1,000-yard campaigns in Tennessee (2002 and 2003).

If McNair, who was drafted in 1995, made the list, George has a similar argument.

Keith Bulluck and Michael Roos apparently also garnered consideration. Casey, Bulluck, and Roos are fairly interchangeable. All three were outstanding for an extended period of time.
