After spending the first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, it’s team could trade standout tight end Chig Okonkwo before the deadline next month. According to USA Today, one writer thinks that Okonkwo could be available for a trade as the Titans are likely to send plenty of talent to make room for extra draft picks for next year. Originally selected in the fourth round, the former Maryland product is currently leading the offense in receptions (23) while ranking second in receiving yards (218). It’s no wonder that he could get trade interest soon, with the market set to heat up.
Okonkwo isn’t the most well-known name as a potential tight end trade candidate like Ravens veteran Mark Andrews, but he has a ton of potential to turn into a viable starter for a contender. With Okonkwo in his final year of his rookie contract, the team could safely trade him at a low-stakes cost, but they’re more likely to demand maybe a fourth-round pick at best in return for his services. The tight end’s size and durability as a long-term offensive weapon should set him apart from other veterans that will become available on the trade block. The Titans have fourth-round rookie Gunnar Helm waiting for the right opportunity, so the tanking team should be trading Okonkwo to these three teams soon.

Possible Next Teams
Philadelphia Eagles
With quarterback Jalen Hurts taking a step back this season, the Eagles could use any help in their passing offense right now. The AJ Brown drama saga will continue as long as the team depends on the run more than on utilizing their receivers. It wouldn’t take much for the Eagles to acquire this viable weapon for their roster. The Eagles were already trying to move on from veteran Dallas Goedert at one point before he took a paycut, so this trade would make sense to build some stability in the aerial attack.
This could be Okonkwo’s chance to build himself a part of a championship roster, even though there are a few issues for them to clean up.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders are in dire need of a new offensive weapon. Even though Terry McLaurin is returning from his injury, there’s no guarantee that he will be completely 100%. However, the Commanders should be in the market for a tight end either way. Veteran Zach Ertz is on the brink of retirement after the 2025 campaign and could hang up his cleats if the Commanders fail to reach the Super Bowl.
Since Ben Sinnott had a terrible first year and John Bates is more of a blocker than he is a receiver down the field, Okonkwo could fill the hole. He won’t be a modern-day Chris Cooley, but he should be able to keep this offense intact.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs finally found some life after winning two straight games, against one with the Lions. Despite that, the Chiefs will probably lose veteran tight Travis Kelce to retirement. After tying the knot with Taylor Swift, it could be any moment during the upcoming offseason that he retires. If that happens, they should acquire Okonkwo either way.
