NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Chicago Bears formally interviewed Tennessee Titans legend Eddie George for their head coaching position Sunday in Chicago.
George led the Tennessee State University (TSU) Tigers to their first Big-South OVC since 1999 last fall with a 9-3 record and then a 41-27 playoff loss at Montana. In four years, he has a 24-22 record with back-to-back winning seasons in 2023 and 2024.
The Bears are not completely unfamiliar with George. He was with the team as part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship for a few weeks in 2023. He is part of a massive search in Chicago to replace Matt Eberflus.
George is the 17th candidate to be interviewed by the Bears, who are looking to bounce back from a disastrous 5-12 season that saw them lose 10 games in a row.

Only two players in NFL history have rushed for 10,000 yards without missing a game and they are the legendary Jim Brown and George. He was a Heisman Trophy winner at Ohio State before he was a first round pick of the Houston Oilers, where he became the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. George also went on to score two touchdowns in the Titans’ epic Super Bowl loss to the St. Louis Rams in the 1999 season.
